This
simple yet elegant wedding favor will be a big hit and is easy on the budget.
Many of the items you may need can be ordered directly from this page for your convenience.
PLEASE NOTE!! - Although chocolate making is relatively safe for the entire family to participate, adult supervision is required.
Chocolate
I prefer to use chocolate coating wafers designed for molding chocolate.
My preferred brand is Merckens which works well with all chocolate molding
projects, is available in a wide selection of colors, and tastes great.
Melting Chocolate
Either melting method may be used, but I find the double boiler works best
for this.
Double Boiler - See Double Boiler Usage Instructions.
A microwave may also be used but care must be taken not to overheat the chocolate.
The following chocolate making supplies and other materials were used to make this project. Clicking on the item name will bring you to that item's page with a full description and ordering information.
Step 1
The mold is used with no modifications. Each mold makes three at a time.
Step 2
Melt some yellow chocolate and paint the stamen area.
Note: Most chocolate colors need to be thinned with some paramount crystals to paint smoothly.
Allow it to harden fully before proceeding.
Step 3
Fill the mold with super white chocolate.
Step 4
Place a lolly stick.
Step 5
Rotate the stick to ensure a good bond.
Step 6
Allow the chocolate to harden then place the mold in your freezer just long
enough so it de molds easily. This may take from 5 - 10 minutes depending
on your freezer conditions.
Allow it to return to room temperature before continuing.
Step 7
Place the lolly in a pretzel bag.
Step 8
Curling ribbon is most commonly available in "eggs". To use these
most easily, snip a hole in the end of the egg and pull the end out from the
center.
Step 9
Cut two or more pieces of ribbon approximately 18 to 20 inches long.
Tie them around the stick as shown using an overhand knot.
Step 10
The ribbon is curled by dragging it across your scissors under tension.
This is much easier to do than it is to describe so play around with it until you have the technique down.
Step 11
The finished wedding favor.
